Divergent Trilogy Review

Divergent is a three series book which depicts the life of a sixteen year old girl living in a dystopian world. In this utopian society, sixteen year olds are forced to go through an aptitude test which indicates their future faction. In world their society is divided into five different factions; Dauntless the brave, Erudite the intelligent, Candor the honest, Amity the peaceful, and Abnegation the selfless. After the sixteen year olds go through the aptitude test (which then tells them which faction they belong to) they must decide which of the five factions they will enter. They can either stay with their family and friends they grew up with, or choose to branch off into a new faction.

I read Divergent a few years ago and it honestly changed my life. I was never really into reading prior to this book, however when I started reading it I could not put it down. It opened a whole new chapter in my life (literally). I loved everything about the book, from the well developed and relatable characters, to the original and well thought out plot. The characters in divergent were teens like myself, which makes it more realistic and engaging. The book had many different subliminal messages that readers could take away and interpret in their own sense. Divergent reminded me of the cliche high school cliques we have in school (factions) where you'd have the jocks/sporty people (dauntless), the nerdy students (erudite), and the blunt and loud students (Candor).

If you are looking for a book that will keep you interested and on edge, Divergent is your book. Veronica Roth will not disappoint you through all three books. She starts off with a great plot, and keeps thickening it to the very end. Conclusively, I highly recommend that everyone from all age groups to read this book. It was extremely relatable, well written, perfectly paced and action packed.
